How You Can Navigate The Unknown In The Most Self-Honoring Way

We’re all being tested and stretched many unusual ways right now. There is so much that is unpredictable, unprecedented and unknown.

It can feel like your decisions matter more now than ever, and that making a “wrong” decision could lead to big repercussions and catastrophic outcomes. Many are facing feelings of bewilderment and betrayal when people they know and love aren’t doing things or making choices that are like their own.

All of this can feel scary, infuriating and overwhelming, too.

You might feel like so much is out of your control — a very difficult reality to face because we all like the feeling of control, to varying degrees. This is why it’s necessary, now more than ever, to…

Pay attention to what you can control and do what helps you to feel good

…so that you can make the best decisions and take the most powerful actions you can for yourself and those you love.

Your list may look different, but honoring myself currently looks like daily choices and practices like these:

  • Making lists of what give me energy, comfort, joy, pleasure… and doing more of those things
  • Moving my body in ways that feel good
  • Managing my expectations — of myself, my day, my business, of myself as a mother, and others
  • Choosing the news and media sources I allow into my life, and how much
  • Giving myself time and space to tune into and feel my feelings and fears so they don’t run me
  • Nourishing myself with beautiful, life-giving foods
  • Connecting with friends and loved ones
  • Keeping a clean and beautiful bedroom and office — the rest of the house less so
  • Giving myself permission to take breaks, nap, tune out, do less, or do nothing
  • Keeping track of all the people, places and things I am grateful for
  • Staying dialed in to the vision for myself and my life that I hold in my heart
  • Getting enough sleep, inspiration, positivity, and beauty
  • Spending time outside in nature

My question for you is: what can you do more of to help yourself feel good even when there are so many things going on in the world today that don’t?

What would be on your self-honoring list? What are the things that really support you in every way? What helps you to feel good?

It’s true. There is so much we don’t know and can’t control. And, we can make choices that will either help us to feel good while we live with all of this uncertainty, or not. Because…

Being generous with yourself, and others, feels good.
Feeling vibrant and healthy in your physical body feels good.
Finding peace of mind feels good.
Surrounding yourself with reliable, supportive, and truly loving people feels good.
Connecting to beauty, inspiration, appreciation and divinity feels good.
Creating more of what you want feels good.
Letting go of what’s not really serving you feels good.

This is why I’m inviting you to make your self-honoring list — today! — and post it somewhere you will see it every day — a few times a day, if you can.

Make the decision to feel good — not just for the moment, but in ongoing, life-affirming, life-giving ways.

This is one of the ways we are all being asked to grow right now. And this one of the most powerful ways we can navigate this unusual time we’re in.
